- If it stops heating right away, will not dry clothes:
- The lint catch might be full of lint
- The exhaust line vent might have accumulated too much lint
- If there is an unpleasant odor near a GAS dryer:
- There might be a gas leak from the main line into the dryer
- There might be a gas leak within the dryer, possibly directly from the on/off gas valve
- Use extreme caution, shutoff the gas to the dryer, ventilate the location, don't light any fires in the area, get it checked out
